RoadWired Announces Name Change, New Products
Carrying case manufacturer is now Skooba Design

Rochester, NY, August 16, 2007—Carrying case manufacturer RoadWired has announced that it is changing its company name to Skooba Design, to reflect the changes and evolution of the seven year-old company. The RoadWired name will continue as a collection name on selected products and product groupings, but the overall branding, identity and focus of the company will be under the Skooba Design name. An entirely new website,, and many new products are part of the transition.

The Superbungee Strap features what the company calls a “sport-tuned suspension system,” consisting of a high-density, floating bungee/shock cord ring which acts as a shock absorber, minimizing carrying shock and perceived weight. On the reverse (wearer) side of the contoured shoulder pad is a flexible grid of individual, air-filled cells to further enhance carrying comfort. The cells are covered in a friction laminate, to help keep even the heaviest bag from slipping.

The company has expanded its family of Skooba Skins—patent-pending laptop carriers which convert from sleeve to tote—with the addition of a unique new “DIY” (Design it Yourself) Skin made out of blank canvas. The DIY Skin allows the owner to decorate it, using markers, airbrush, fabric paint, pen, or a variety of other methods, creating a truly one-of-a-kind laptop bag.

Skooba Design has also introduced a new “micro” size Skin for ultraportable laptops, adding to the existing three sizes and ensuring that there is a Skooba Skin to fit virtually any laptop. The additions to the Skin collection bring the total number of size/fabric/color combinations to 32, and the company says more are on the way.

Skooba has also announced the introduction of the Skooba Satchel 2.0 and Skooba Seventeen 2.0, the latest generation of its original, lightweight, full-featured laptop bags. The products have been updated and enhanced in a variety of areas, most notably the addition of the company’s new, patent-pending Superbungee™ shoulder strap.

RoadWired is marketed and distributed to the photo/imaging trade exclusively by Tenba/Skooba Design, Elmsford NY, 914-347-3300.
