Studio Photography takes on a new name, new editorial focus with its April issue.

Melville, NY (April 10, 2006) – Award-winning Studio Photography & Design magazine, the professional photographer’s number one resource covering the diverse photo and imaging marketplace, announced today an enhanced redesign that would mean a greater focus on business practices and ongoing trends. The newly updated publication includes a new name – Studio Photography: The Business Behind the Image. The magazine is published by business-to-business media leader Cygnus Business Media which also publishes Photo Trade News (PTN) and, a top imaging portal that reaches thousands of photo and imaging professionals monthly.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “The number of individuals interested in positions as commercial and news photographers usually is much greater than the number of openings. Those who succeed in landing a salaried job or attracting enough work to earn a living by freelancing are likely to be adept at operating a business and to be among the most creative, able to find and exploit the new opportunities available from rapidly changing technologies.”

Beginning with the April 2006 issue, Studio Photography’s content portfolio will center on Business Matters, Technique & Workflow, Marketing Strategies, Profiles, and Products & Services. Enhanced editorial will include diverse areas of weddings and portraiture, including children/babies, youth sports, corporate, events, and pets as well as focusing on commercial work featuring products, fashion, beauty, news, photojournalism, pro sports, digital fine art, and celebrities.

The April issue will showcase a new logo and graphics with a more easily browsed Table of Contents. The publication will debut at the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) show in Las Vegas, April 9 – 11, 2006.
