Sabio Storage today announced that its Sabio CM-4 Network Attached Storage system is being marketed by Backdrop Outlet, and on display in the company's booth #1940 at the Photo Marketing Association Show 2006 this week in Orlando. The Sabio CM-4 provides high-capacity recoverable data storage in an easy-to-use and cost-effective package. It is simple and intuitive, so it's ideal for professional and amateur photographers who need recoverable data storage, but don't have an IT department to manage it.
The Sabio CM-4 brings advanced storage to photographers at prices that fit into their budget. The Sabio CM-4 comes with four high-performance SATA hard drives for a total of 2.0TB (2000GB), 1.6TB (1600GB) or 1.0TB (1000 GB) of data, priced at $1,999, $1,599 and $949 respectively. The Sabio CM-4 may be purchased at www.sabiostorage.com .
Unlike most storage systems available in this price range, the Sabio CM-4 ensures that data is recoverable. The system uses hard disk drives and can be set in a RAID configuration, which allows the data to be recovered in case of a disk failure. As a result, a heightened level of data security is now available for photographers who need to ensure their photos are other data is secure. In addition to improved data integrity, the Sabio CM-4 offers more cost benefits when compared to other storage methods such as tape, optical and online, which can be cumbersome, costly or inflexible.
“Today's professional and amateur photographers are amassing a huge collection of digital photography thanks to improved imaging technology,” said Ajay Gupta , general manager, Sabio Storage. “Because of this, many photographers now need advanced storage technology. We've taken the best of recoverable, high-capacity storage and made it easy-to-use and cost-effective in the Sabio CM-4.”
Flexible, Simple Design Makes the Sabio CM-4 Easy to Use
Designed from the ground up to be flexible as well as easy to use, upgrade and service, the Sabio CM-4 comes with a simple web browser interface that lets customers access the automatic or complete-control set-up options. Following set-up, the Sabio CM-4 is easy to use and maintain; it appears on the network for direct storage access and can be updated as needed via the browser interface.
The physical unit is also easy to use; it features two color LED indicators that display functionality and hard drive status whether the door is opened or closed. The hard drives are hot-swappable and securely mounted onto easily removable drive trays. Internal components are kept secure, yet are easily accessible for upgrades and servicing.
The storage system comes with system recovery software that can be set to different levels of customization for Microsoft® Windows® environments. The software can be set according to customer needs to restore settings, preferences and files in the event of a data or system issue.
RAID Reliability Made Simple
In addition to an intuitive and streamlined user experience, the Sabio CM-4 has taken what is thought of as a complex, high-end storage method – RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) – and made it simple. The Sabio CM-4 uses hard drives in a “RAID array” to deliver unparalleled flexibility – the hard drives can be set up for data recoverability, maximum capacity or performance. The Sabio CM-4 supports RAID 0, 1 and 5 or can be used as JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks).
High-Performance and Network Ready
Delivering the latest industry-leading technology for uncompromised performance, the Sabio CM-4 uses an Intel XScale® IOP321 processor @ 400MHz. The Sabio CM-4 comes with 16MB of flash memory and 256MB of DDR system memory that can be expanded to 512MB to accommodate more clients on the network.
The Sabio CM-4 is compatible with PC, Mac and Linux operating systems, so it's ideal for heterogeneous environments utilized by many photographers. The device can be connected to a network using a fast Gigabit Ethernet connection and has two USB 2.0 ports for additional external storage or for configuration.
The sleek, black and compact Sabio CM-4 looks great sitting on a desk or shelf. It measures: 10.2” (H) x 6.8” (W) x 11.4” (D) and weighs approximately 20 pounds.
