Print at Retail Continues to Grow as Fujifilm Expands its Frontier Solutions With Introduction of Inkjet-Based Frontier Dry Lab 410

VALHALLA, N.Y., September 18, 2008 - FUJIFILM U.S.A., Inc. recently announced that in response to the growing interest in inkjet-based solutions, Fujifilm is introducing an update to its Fujifilm Frontier Dry Minilab, featuring the DL410 printer, which is available for immediate shipment. This latest addition to the standard-setting Frontier line of photofinishing lab solutions further expands a retailer's ability to deliver high quality photo prints to consumers.

The release of the new inkjet-based digital lab comes as increasing consumer demand for prints at retail is presenting retailers with growth opportunities.

With an ability to scale to fit varying traffic and volume needs, the Fujifilm Frontier DL410 can be introduced on its own or easily added to an existing lab environment to deliver Frontier-quality prints with the combination of Fujifilm's high quality inkjet photo paper, inks and Fujifilm's Image IntelligenceTM software technology. Fujifilm workflow applications such as Frontier Workflow Management Software "MS" and kiosk interface "TS" software enhance and simplify the lab operator and consumer experience - increasing the opportunity for retail and lab business growth.

In 2003, Fujifilm research indicated that retail would ultimately be the destination for consumers to print as their printing habits evolved for the digital age. According to InfoTrends' 2007 Photo Prints Forecast, digital photo print volume will grow to nearly 20 billion prints in 2008, with prints made at retail or via online-to-retail orders accounting for well over 66 percent of total volume by 2012.

"As retailers anticipate and experience this growth they are looking for flexible technology and service solutions. The strong, broad range of Fujifilm photofinishing solutions - including inkjet technology - has made us the right partner for many retailers," noted Joe Vaughey, Group Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Imaging Division, FUJIFILM U.S.A.

"The DL410 offers retailers the high image quality they have come to expect from Frontier, with the new advantages presented by an inkjet printing solution."

The Fujifilm Frontier DL410 offers several enhanced features, including a sorter option for managing prints up to 8"x12", increased back-printing capability to two lines of text and support of a 4-inch paper roll for efficiently creating 4"x8" photo greeting cards.

Additionally, Fujifilm has designed a printer stand option specifically for the Frontier DL410 that conveniently stores accessories, media and consumables while providing a unique stacking capability for multiple units within the same small footprint.

With a footprint of 5.38 sq. ft., the Frontier DL410 is designed to save space and does not require water, making installation easier for many kinds of retailers. It prints out approximately 650 4" x 6" prints per hour and 280 8" x 10" per hour and offers a variety of output options including long size prints (max. 36 inches), frame prints and calendar prints. The DL410 features Fujifilm's Image Intelligence digital software, which optimizes images automatically to achieve high-quality prints. Daily maintenance is also easy - requiring replacement of ink cartridge and paper supply only when necessary.

The addition of Fujifilm Dry Lab technology broadens the company's portfolio of digital and analog photofinishing solutions. Several prominent retailers have recently selected Fujifilm's photofinishing solutions for installations throughout the U.S. Each location maintains Fujifilm photo printing solutions that include Fujifilm Frontier digital lab systems, Get Pix kiosks and terminals, Xerox Docucolor and Phaser printers for custom photo gifts and digital drop box terminals for remote processing of traditional prints and photo gift items through Fujicolor Processing Labs.

Fujifilm companies possess an unmatched array of printing and imaging solutions. These include electronic imaging products, digital printing solutions, commercial imaging and printing software, electronic prepress equipment, offset lithography, flexographic printing, inkjet print heads for commercial and industrial printing, high performance inks and other consumables for the screen, narrow web label and flatbed digital printing; solvent-free UV flatbed digital presses and UV curing ink systems through FUJIFILM Sericol.
