KATE Middleton is quitting her fashion house job - to be a photographer.
Kate, 25 - whose boyfriend Prince William has complained about paparazzi hounding them - had a farewell lunch with colleagues at Jigsaw on Wednesday where she told them of her plans.
One workmate said: "When she was asked what she was off to do she said she was a photographer and she may open a gallery. She said, 'The possibilities are endless'." Kate is apparently interested in artistic and still-life pictures rather than portraits like those taken by royal snapper the late Lord Lichfield.
The source added: "We thought something was afoot because our staff restaurant is normally really busy but that day it was deserted.
"Then we found out Kate and her department were all out having lunch to say goodbye. Most people are just saying good luck to her. It will be a lot quieter round here without a semi-celeb, semi-royal person in the offices.
"She was popular and polite. She's had the nickname HRH for a while at Jigsaw but I'm not sure if she is aware of that.
"Nice girl, down to earth and chatty if you bumped into her in the ladies.
"It raised a few eyebrows that she wasn't here much, though."
Kate had been working only three days a week at the firm in Croydon, South London, since her relationship with William was rekindled.
Weekends with the prince and his family meant she never worked Mondays or Fridays.
She started at Jigsaw as an accessories buyer after leaving St Andrews University, where she met Wills.
The firm said: "It's an amicable split. Kate and Jigsaw see it as a good time to part on very good terms.
"Jigsaw are very appreciative for all Kate has done for them and wish her well in the future."
