Woodstock, IL-- Hands Off!: is an international digital photography juried exhibition at 621 Gallery in Tallahassee, FL. Participants must submit three JPEG files of original work. Images must be shot with a digital camera and can be manipulated digitally. The show will run from September 7-28, 2007.
Hands Off! is a digital photography exhibition showing a new phenomenon in art: the ability for the artist to create a finished piece without ever touching the artwork. This juried exhibition gives the opportunity for emerging and well-known artists to show in an established venue possibly across the county or world without the normal astronomical fees involved such as printing, framing, crating, shipping, and return shipping.
The Gallery will handle printing and framing the piece getting it ready for opening night. Hahnemuhle FineArt is honored to be a part of this event that helps artists exhibit their work.
Ansley Simmons, VP of the Board of Directors, stated, "I approached Hahnemuhle FineArt because as a digital photographer, I trust their paper to help bring my work to life.
"The generous donation by Hahnemuhle FineArt gave further incentive to artists to apply to this unique exhibition opportunity. Any digital artist would be thrilled to receive their fine art paper! I am so pleased they decided to be a part of this event and provide our artists with such a high quality product."
During the month-long exhibition, over $1000 in cash and prizes will be awarded. This includes the "Best of Show" award which will be chosen by juror and image- maker Robert Fichter. Product sponsors include Pearon, O'Reily, Focal Press, ExpoImaging, Aperture Foundation and Hahnemuhle FineArt. There is a $30 entry fee for each artist.
All entry money from the exhibition will go to 621 Gallery, Inc, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to bring innovative and contemporary art to Tallahassee, FL. They hold at least 20 exhibitions a year featuring local and national artists.
