Datacolor (www.datacolor.com) added a spectro-driven precision profiling tool to its ColorVision product line. The PrintFIX PRO utilizes the Datacolor 1005 Spectrocolorimeter, patch-reading hardware, and stand-alone software, which enables it to create spectro printer profiles that support all RGB-driven inkjet, dye-sub, thermal, chemical, and laser printers. Also, the stand-alone software affords users flexibility and a richer interface, while the spectro technology enables support of a wide range of media, especially third-party fine art papers and inks.

Extensis (www.extensis.com) released Portfolio 8, offering workflow features designed to organize and route digital files more efficiently, utilizing visual catalogs and embedded metadata. Portfolio 8 includes a standalone version and client/server solution, as well as NetPublish and SQL Connect Modules. The software’s galleries include: Full Customer Sort, enabling users to drag, re-order, or sort items in galleries, SmartGalleries, and disk folders; Scratchpad Galleries, allowing users to sort, edit, and merge collections of files from multiple galleries or searches into a single gallery that can be used for printing, collecting or publishing; and Public/Private Galleries, read-only galleries that enable users to create private galleries that are only viewable to the creator. Other important features include NetPublish Galleries, NetPublish Logging, Fast Cataloging, Folder Sync & AutoSync Enhancements, Custom XMP Extraction and Custom Info Panels. A 30 day free trial of Portfolio 8 is available on the company’s website.

Leaf (www.leafamerica.com) launched its Aptus 75 and 65 digital camera backs. They offer a 6x7cm LCD touch screen, which provides complete control over the image capture process. The Aptus 75 offers 6726 x 5040 pixels of resolution, resulting in about a 200MB file size (16-bit RGB color), while the Aptus 65 provides 6144 x 4622 pixels, resulting in an approximate 160MB file size. File storage options include uncompressed raw files and a lossless compression, designed to reduce the size of RAW files by half. The backs also feature an extended ISO range from 50-800. The Aptus 75 and 65 are both available with a three-year warranty option. Leaf also introduced its Leaf Digital Magazine with a 30GB capacity to enable longer shooting sessions.
