DIGITAL ANARCHY (www.digitalanarchy.com) announced the release of Primatte Chromakey 3.0 for Photoshop. Primatte removes a blue/green background from a still image or footage, leaving the subject against a transparent background with any color cast removed.

MOHAWK FINE PAPERS INC. (www.mohawkpaper.com) released its new Eco Guide for Beckett Concept, Beckett Expression, Strathmore Writing and Script, Mohawk Options, Mohawk Via, and Mohawk Color Copy. The tool describes the product lines, highlighting environmental attributes, and provides a reference chart that shows which papers are FSC certified, Green-e certified, Green Seal certified, and/or made carbon neutral.

HAHNEMUHLE FINE ART (www.hahnemuhle.com) announced its digital Fine Art Baryta paper. The FineArt Baryta 325 will combine an ultra smooth surface with an original Baryta finish. The new paper contains barium sulfate in the coating, which enhances the typical reflecting gloss, high Dmax, large color gamut, and sharp definition of a Baryta paper.

LEICA CAMERA AG (www.leica-camera.com) announced that a free firmware update for the Leica Digital Modul-R will be available on the company website. Version 1.3 offers extensive improvements in the performance of Leica’s SLR digital/film hybrid system, optimizing coloring on the Digital Modul-R display screen, enhancing adjustment of exposure, and improving compatibility of SD cards with FAT 32 system/4 GB cards. The update increases general image reproduction and functional features.

SCANCAFE (www.scancafe.com) is a new photo scanning and restoration service that helps photographers organize and preserve their work. With the new ProZone for photographers, ScanCafé offers TIFF format, USB hard drive delivery, scanning resolution at 4000 dpi, and personal account managers for large-volume customers. Color correction, cropping, dust and stain removal are included as part of ScanCafé's basic packages. Additional services and more extensive restoration are reasonably priced.

SNOWMASTERS (www.snowmasters.com) is offering a complete winter "snow" experience with faux snow, snow pellets, snow blankets, icicles, and evaporative snowfall. All professional snow machines are covered by a lifetime warranty and 24-hour technical assistance.

VERTUS (www.vertustech.com) announced Fluid Mask 3.0.2. Enhancements include: performance of preview feature in Patches, no more difficulty loading a .vfmp file on Windows, no more trouble installing software as a plug-in, loading CMYK or 16-bit images is much faster in Photoshop plug-in mode on Windows, new zoom shortcuts, hair matting and blending improvements.

ROLAND ASD (www.RolandASDStore.com) launched a store on the company’s website. In addition to serving customers after hours and on weekends, the online store enables authorized dealers to offer an expanded selection of supplies and accessories.

THE HALLMARK MUSEUM (www.hmcp.org) raised $13,000 for the International Aid Organization through its spring exhibition and print sales, June 21 - July 1. Proceeds from the collaborative effort between the museum and volunteer students of the Hallmark Institute of Photography go to the international humanitarian aid organization Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres.

Mark Geeves was named head of Ciba Color Services (www.Cibacs.com) in the Americas and vice president, Americas, at MetalFX, a Ciba Color Services subsidiary. Geeves will focus on bringing the MetalFX Technology metallic color printing process to the North American and Latin American markets.

Thomas Chin, vice president and chief scientist at PhotoShelter (www.photoshelter.com), was named by Computerworld to its list of top 40 Innovative IT people under 40. Chin was selected alongside technologists from Fortune 500 companies, including Johnson and Johnson, Verizon Wireless, and FedEx Services.

THE CORCORAN GALLERY OF ART (www.corcoran.org) announced its fall 2007 Photography Season, including two special exhibitions: Ansel Adams and Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life, 1990-2005. Tickets went on sale in July.
