Two Perfectly Brilliant Tools for Location Shoots
Rololight Softboxes and Lighttools Soft Egg Crates
We’re in a small confined space that is a client’s conference room. We used a standard 3-light setup, with the main light to the left, a kicker light to the right (with two bulbs off to lower the brightness), and a background light on the Savage Thunder Grey seamless backdrop paper. Note the reflector in the holder in the foreground on the right. The black line is the edge of the collapsible reflector.

Here is a final image from the above setup. A standard 3-light setup, with the main light to the left, a kicker light to the right (with two bulbs off to lower the brightness), and a background light on the seamless.

On location for a commercial client for an environmental portrait, my assistant attaches the Lighttools Soft Egg Crate to the Rololight panel.

The main light setup (with the Soft Egg Crates) is in the foreground. Note how thin the panel and Egg Crates is. The Tuff-spun is between the Rololight and the Lighttools Soft Egg Crates modifier.

A relaxed portrait of a DJ for a corporate client who was looking for a softer, more informal portrait style.

In this edgy portrait for a corporate client, the Rololights not only provide the main light but three panels of them, in conjunction with a glass wall, make a unique background.
