Hossein Farmani, founder of the Lucie Awards and co-founder of the Palm Springs Photo Festival, and Jeff Dunas, creative director and co-founder of PSPF, announced this year’s Lucie Awards honorees. They include Elliot Erwitt, Kenro Izu, and Eugene Richards. The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 15, in New York City. The Lucie Awards will also celebrate top winners from the International Photography Awards competition, The International Photographer of the Year, The Discovery of the Year, and The Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year.

The Academy of Art University’s School of Graphic Design ( announced the five student scholarship winners from its annual Spring Show and portfolio review. The Academy's Spring Show drew more than 1,400 attendees. Recipients of this year’s student scholarship awards are: Tiffany L. Ricardo, Travis Retter, Daniel Patrick Liston, Andrew Johnson, and Priya Rajan.

Upgraded features include the ability to hide master category tabs from certain users or groups to provide an easier-to-understand workspace, and the ability for Cumulus 7.5 to perform user-defined "trigger" actions when a metadata field is changed to a certain value.

DXO LABS ( announced that DxO Optics Pro v4.2 software now supports the Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro and FinePix S3 Pro, as well as the Pentax K10D Digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera. Support for the new cameras and their associated lens correction modules is available in the DxO Optics Pro v4.2 Standard and Elite editions. Upgrades to this latest version, including support for this new set of digital cameras, are free for all DxO Optics Pro v4.x users (Standard and Elite editions).

MODERN POSTCARD ( unveiled a new paper stock. The latest Modern Postcard “Inspire” paper is now whiter and brighter, improving the quality and impact of postcards. The paper has increased from a brightness rating of 91 to 94, which allows for a greater contrast and, ultimately, a higher print quality. Similarly, the whiter the paper, the higher the quality of light the paper emits. The new paper will have stronger visual appeal with blue whites as opposed to warm whites.

KNOWLEDGE BACKGROUNDS ( has introduced their PopFlex backgrounds. These versatile backgrounds measure 6x7-feet and can be twisted up for storage, allowing users to “pop” them out for usage.
