At the DirecTV photo shoot with Martin Scorsese, we created a cover image and interior shots for an article they were doing on Scorsese. They wanted the cover image to suggest something heroic, something that said “New York.” We shot it on a balcony, in L.A., actually, overlooking the city. I decided to document the session with a stop-motion film. DirecTV was so thrilled with the film that they now include it in their television campaign to promote Scorsese's new association with them.
The experience of applying new techniques to old technology has transformed
us. We bring a videographer whenever we do a big shoot. We make a video,
and if someone is doing some press or needs material for a website and they
want a little movie, we’re ready to go.
I have also started to show the films when I teach, so you may just see one
the next time you’re in one of my workshops.
