7. Dust. Shhh! Don’t mention this word. But just in case, have some way to protect your camera while changing film, lenses, or cards.
It was a wonderful surprise to see women operators–don’t call them drivers–moving those enormous metal giants. Everyone operating equipment was very helpful. My water truck shots were enhanced by the operator who saw me going for a shot of his truck. As he drove by, he turned on a full blast of water from the top of the truck, which created a great rainbow. When the tractor operators saw me focusing on them, three of them lined up and shoved huge boulders off a small incline. I was so intent on getting the shot, I didn’t notice until I saw the finished image that the boulders were in the air—headed for me. “Thank you” Scott to the rescue, again.
