The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (www.mfah.org), will present "The History of Japanese Photography," March 2-April 27, 2003. Co-organized by the MFAH and the Japan Foundation, the exhibit will include more than 200 photographs by 110 photographers, spotlighting the dramatic historic and cultural changes that have taken place in Japan over the past two centuries.
The MFAH also displays an exhibition that will bring together appoximately 75 vintage prints by Lewis Carroll, who was an important figure in Victorian photographic circles under his real name, Rev. Charles Dodgson, before becoming a children's book author. "Dreaming in Pictures: The Photography of Lewis Carroll" will be on display from February 22 through May 18, 2003.
Featuring never-before-seen photographs, "Robert Frank: London/Wales" brings together two distinct bodies of work to reveal a new understanding of Frank's contribution to the history of photography. Curated by Philip Brookman, who has worked with the artist on previous projects, "Robert Frank: London/Wales" is on view at the Corcoran Gallery of Art (www.corcoran.org) in Washington, D.C., from May 10 through July 14, 2003 .
