"I choked up," Smith says, "knowing I had touched someone's life so much with my images."
So how does he know just when to snap the shutter? "There's no easy explanation. It's whatever makes me excited. Once we start shooting, I'm not thinking about composing the shot. The magic just happens. And it's so much fun."
