Digital Printer Processor

Sonman, Inc. introduced the unique SDP-1217 full digital printer processor. Developed in conjunction with Lab Net Plus, the economical printer/processor digitizes both 35mm and APS films, is compatible with all popular digital image storage media and also accepts digital files over local networks and the Internet. The printer employs a digital Contact Printing Engine, which provides a constant 366 dpi output on silver halide paper in all formats from 3.5 x 5-inches up to 12x17-inches (305 x 424mm). The simple LED lamphouse and LCD printing panel are contained in a sealed unit, requiring a one-time alignment, with minimal cleaning and maintenance. Since the print engine requires no optical system for printing, it eliminates the distortion and vignetting often associated with lens-type enlargement systems, as well as the need for cleaning. Using an autoloading dual paper magazine design, the printer capacity is 800 3.5 x 5-inch prints/hour or 100 12 x17-inch prints/hour, with the ability to quickly switch between printing formats. A separate graphic station permits images to be reviewed, editing and retouched before printing.
