Kreidler also does well with his photo greeting card business. "This year we will have 50 new designs that we purchased from the PRO group as well as some new designs from Noritsu and PhotoTidings."

Kreidler also sees the Internet playing a huge role this holiday season. "With digital we look for a lot of our greeting card orders to come via the Internet. We think this will be a huge business for us. We are offering sample templates online. Where the customer can place their order and create their own card. We will really be targeting this area as we head towards December," he concludes.

"We continue to see an increase in photo greeting cards as our production of boxes and envelopes for these go up every year. This year alone we will produce over 150 million greeting card envelopes," Kent Dunham VP, sales and marketing at Mackay Photopak.

"While most of our customers purchase the plain white envelope we are seeing a rise in interest in using gold foil lined envelopes, printed envelopes and even heavier paper weights for a more upscale look and feel," he adds.

"Holiday greeting cards are a big area for us," says Keith Larson at PJ's Camera & Photo in Glen Ellyn, IL about 25 miles west of Chicago. He reports that digital spurring on his photo greeting card business. "More customers are bringing their digital files instead of their negatives to make cards. It has been generating more revenue for us and we have expanded our offerings in the last year or so. Mackay's Sparkle Tree envelopes have been good sellers for us."
