Tokina
Tokina has been making manual and autofocus lenses for 35mm cameras for over 20 years. The companys new AT-X 124 AF Pro DX 12-24mm f/4 is a 12-24mm zoom, with a constant f/4 aperture, made specifically for APS-C size digital sensors. On cameras with a 1.5 magnification factor, this is equivalent to an 18-36mm lens.
Tokina also offers the AT-X 100 AF PRO D f/2.8. This is a macro lens, which is engineered to be used in both film and digital capture, regardless of sensor size. Although this lens is often used by macro photographers, the 100mm lenses can be great for portrait shooting. They are flattering, but not to an extreme, and the f/2.8 aperture is a favorite for creating interesting in-camera background effects.
Tokinas AT-X PRO series lenses feature their patented Focus Clutch Mechanism for switching the lens between autofocus and manual focus modes. When the focusing ring is in the AF position, it is not engaged to any of the internal focus gearing, which allows the camera to autofocus the lens more quickly and smoothly. DIT
