“As a digital and hybrid process photographer, I frequently use Innova for my work. Innova Smooth Cotton Bright White, 315 gsm is a beautifully produced fine art paper capable of tonal transitions that feel more like traditionally crafted fine darkroom prints than those made in the digital realm. It is truly an artist’s paper.”

“I use Brilliant Supreme Glossy inkjet paper for my 13”x19” portfolio and sample prints. In addition to excellent color, I find it gives me more acuity than other papers and for a much better price point.”

"As owner of a small country studio near Newport, Rhode Island, I have come to rely on Crane & Company to supply Museo Digital Art Paper for my fine art, commercial, and portrait printing. With each assignment, I offer a sample card to the client, and the response has been overwhelming. My note card business has become a strong profit center because my clients appreciate the quality and recognize the company name. I appreciate the ease of printing, the texture and feel of the paper. I consider the Crane technical staff a partner in my small business."

"From the time I began working with Epson’s pigments inks and media, I felt a strong need to separate my images printed traditionally as silver gelatin or platinum palladium prints from those printed with Epson’s papers and inks. I have always been drawn to Epson’s Velvet Fine Art paper for several reasons. Its rich texture gives it a unique and distinctive look and feel. For me, as well, the tonal range and D-max of the paper best suits my black-and-white portraits. With the new K3 ink sets and the advanced black-and-white mode in the new Epson driver, I am able to best achieve the print quality and look I am after."

“As a landscape photographer, I strive to capture the fine balance between artistry and technology. Hahnemühle became my paper of choice when I needed to print panoramics that were the culmination of a four-year project. Hahnemühle William Turner 310 gsm paper gave the textured look I wanted and provided a rich palette of colors that brought to life the essential truths of landscape and light. Their papers also yield zero dot gain, which is critical, especially when images need to show the greatest depth of field.”

"HP’s Premium Satin Plus paper has a number of qualities that appeal to me. It feels robust and has a look and texture that grabs people’s attention as soon as they pick up a print. It has a vibrant color palette, with great contrast, and clarity. A photographer I print for noticed an increase in the sale of his images since we started running his editions on this paper. Black-and-white images, such as “The Singer,” shown here, have excellent dynamic range and no color cast.” Quote by David Saffir

“I have been using ICI ImageData Olmec papers for exhibition for some years. I have found that the 230gsm Matt photo paper in particular is extremely good for this purpose. With its matt finish there are no reflections and the color reproduction is nothing short of magnificent. All the reds, greens, blues, and yellows are well saturated without being either garish or over stated. There are no brassy or ghosting effects in the deep blacks and the contrast is spot on. The ability of this paper to record the finest snippets of information is extremely useful with every little detail faithfully reproduced. The overall effect is of a picture that looks very real. The young people in this image were recruited by the Red Cross for around £1-50 [UK pounds] a day and are shown doing a marvelous job of clearing up the terrible carnage left by the tsunami.”

"Konica Minolta’s Professional and Premium Inkjet Photo Glossy Papers have helped me deliver the highest quality images to my wedding and portrait clients for two years. They provide vibrant colors and superior whites—perfect for portraits. And the extra-heavy paper is very durable for a much longer print life—an important benefit to my customers. And for me, it’s helpful to work with a paper that dries instantly, is smudge proof and water-resistant."

“Lyson’s 320 Darkroom Gloss paper and its new Daylight Darkroom black-and-white system is the closest I found to getting a silver gelatin print from a digital system—even better. Looks like the old Kodabromides I used to print years ago. It’s got great D-Max, shadow, detail, contrast and the paper weight is very good, not thin and wimpy. I use Lyson’s 310 Standard Fire Art paper with Lyson’s CavePaint and Fotonic inks, and Epson’s UltraChrome. It has nice texture, good weight, and the colors are vibrant. It reproduces the way you want it to, delivering the image that’s on screen and in your head.”

“I strive to represent the contemplative spirit of human nature in my photographs. That feeling shines through in the prints I produce with Entrada Fine Art paper. This dual-sided, 100 percent cotton rag paper prints with incredible detail and tonality. The color palette of my photos is pale so I need a paper to enhance their natural vibrancy. Entrada allows the colors in my prints to pop without looking too saturated. I recently chose the double-sided 13x19 paper to create a new portfolio presentation and found it very easy to work with. It’s also acid-free, water resistant, and permits instant drying.”

“The new 100 lb. cover Mohawk Color Copy 98 is the closest thing to the look and feel of high-end commercial offset printing. The results amazed me. The highlights, which I attribute to the brightness of the paper, work really well. They hold a lot of detail and still appear bright. As a commercial photographer, I see numerous applications for this paper: portfolio and presentation prints are a natural, but what really excites me is the ability to print small-run custom promotional pieces on paper that has the look and feel of a great offset paper.”

“There is no other communication as special and sincere as a custom-designed greeting card. Your own personal art work is even more special when it is printed on the right card stock. My favorites are Red River’s new linen Texture, Aurora Art II, the 65 lb. Premium Matte, and the new 62 lb. Greenpix, a recycled paper. I like the quality and feel of the paper when I handle it. It comes pre-scored, which saves me time when I am printing a large order. Picking the right card stock puts the best finishing touch on the creative gift.”

“Anything that makes my work easier is very welcome in my life. When I tested this new SIHL canvas, it was love at first sight. I ran a small piece through my Epson 9600 printer with UltraChrome inks and what I saw was just about perfect. I do not have a RIP, so I print directly from Photoshop. My settings are simple: 1440 dpi, textured fine art paper color or B/W. What I see is what I get. I like that. Because I have to protect the prints, I apply a clear coating; otherwise, I would leave them uncoated. SIHL has an ideal texture and a velvet look and the deepest blacks of all the canvases I’ve tried. Furthermore, because it is a 100 percent cotton canvas, stretching (I do my own) is a dream. There are many good canvases out there, but for me this one is the best, by far.”
