Avanquest Software (www.sendphotos.com) announced SendPhotos 5, an enhanced version of its comprehensive digital photo sharing and storage software. SendPhotos 5 subscribers receive a private online locker with 2GB of storage along with the desktop application that simplifies the process of backing up, organizing, and editing photo collections. New to this version of SendPhotos is the ability to create private online communities. SendPhotos will notify the subscriber when guests have added photos and will automatically download them to the main photo collection on the user’s PCs.

Great Circle Books (www.greatcirclebooks.net) unveiled a unique alternative to publishing, by designating a non-profit organization of the photographer’s choice as the beneficiary of a portion of the book sales. Limited editions of 500 to 1,000 books are printed on the new HP Indigo 5000, custom-designed and created to shine a spotlight on the artist’s work. In a joint venture with A&I Digital and Photographic Services, sponsored by Hewlett-Packard, Great Circle Books has published four books in its Eye to I series over the past six months.
Jill-E Designs (www.jill-e.com) debuted its line of accessory products for the professional female photographer. Their new line of camera bags were designed with the same padding and protection found in the best professional bags. Made of leather and suede, the new jill-e bags are available in yellow, red, and other fashionable colors and feature additional pockets and a detachable personal pouch.
Lowepro (www.lowepro.com) launched its Vertex series of premium backpacks. The backpacks contain a rugged exterior design with water resistant zippers and a seam-sealed All Weather Cover that protects gear. Fotoshow Pro includes all the key features and functionalities of premiere stock photography sites, but gives individual photographers and agencies complete control over the display and distribution of their work.
Panasonic (www.panasonic.com) expanded its Lumix family of digital cameras with the introduction of the compact Lumix DMC-FX100, featuring a 12.2-megapixel resolution with a 28mm wide-angle. The newly developed and exclusive 28mm wide-angle LEICA DC lens features 3.6x optical zoom, f/2.8 brightness, 1/1.72-inch large CCD and Intelligent Image Stabilization with Mega O.I.S. and Intelligent ISO Control. The LUMIX DMC-FX100 comes with a 2.5-inch LCD screen, and its slim, lightweight design makes it extremely portable and stylish.
Sharpics (www.sharpics.com) unveiled the D-Flector Portable Photography Studio, DF-20. The D-Flector is a patent-pending portable photo studio that quickly unfolds into a table-top background stand. Sihl Digital Imaging (www.sihlusa.com) released a new self-adhesive version of its dye and pigment ink compatible 3698 Imola Superdry Photo Paper PE 170 pearl, named 3670 Imola Self-Adhesive w/PermaTack PE 170 pearl. Manufactured with Sihl’s proprietary microporous coating, it is a bright white, new generation of economy photo paper suited to photo reproduction, advertising, and indoor posters that are waterfast with pigment inks.

THK Photo Products, Inc. (www.thkphoto.com) announced the Kenko KCM-3100 color meter, a color temperature meter that reads the temperature of either ambient or flash light. The 3100—which bears a striking resemblance to the long-popular Minolta Color Meter—features three display modes, including a light-balancing index, a color-correction display, and an “Analylzer Mode” for measuring flash light only.

Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (www.toshiba.com), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., launched the feature-rich Tecra M8-S8011, a 13.3-inch diagonal widescreen notebook, and the Portégé R500 Series portable notebook computer. Toshiba’s Tecra M8 notebook features a widescreen TruBrite(TM) LCD display to help create an optimal balance of size, weight, and screen clarity. Toshiba’s Portégé R500 Series is a thin notebook series with an integrated optical disk drive and includes a 7mm optical drive, as well as a widescreen 12.1-inch display.

Wasatch Computer Technology (www.wasatch.com) announced that it has added support for the HP Designjet Z6100 Printer Series. SoftRIP supports the full line of HP Z-Series devices, including the HP Designjet Z2100 and HP Designjet Z3100 series printers. As the only inkjet RIP to offer 16-bit color rendering, SoftRIP will allow HP users to achieve even greater quality output. Wasatch RIP products also include key features for sophisticated color management, intuitive direct-to-layout workflows, and automated Smart Nesting.
