Argraph Corporation (www.argraph.com) introduced the latest addition to their QP family of color monitoring targets for digital photography: the 4-Step Gray Scale Card (QPcard 102). Like the original QPcard and QPcolor card, the QPcard 102 is easy to use and significantly improves the color in digital photos. It has four fields for better distribution along the gray scale, and replaces the black with a dark gray field. These four fields work with Adobe Photoshop to correct the balance. The spectral response is flat, making the card perfect in all light conditions without causing metameric problems. With no fluorescent whitening agents, the card is ideal for Custom White Balance Setting in any light.
Better Light (www.betterlight.com) unveiled the Super10K-HS, a digital scanning back that captures up to 416 megapixels of true RGB image data in every scan. Each pixel receives pure red, green, and blue data so there's no interpolation of color data, typical digital artifacts, or pattern issues to deal with in post-production. The Super10K-HS can create a direct digital image at a native resolution of 10,200 x 13,600 pixels. This high resolution allows scanning of originals up to 34x45 inches at 300 pixels per inch, and generates a 794MB, 48-bit RGB file.
