NIKON recently introduced the Coolpix 995, a 3.34-megapixel CCD digital camera that incorporates a multi-mode pop-up flash into the same compact, swivel design as the Coolpix 990 and 950. The camera features a 4x Optical Zoom-Nikkor lens with a 389-152mm coverage (35mm equivalent)—the highest zoom range in the Coolpix line—and a 4x stepless digital zoom. It offers high-speed full resolution image capture at three frames per second, 1/2300 per second shutter speed, maximum ISO of 800, a quick review function, 6x zooming playback, 4 saturation modes to control color, etc. Included are NikonView 4 software; ArcSoft software for editing, retouching, printing, and emailing images and QuickTime movies; 16MB USB-enabled CompactFlash; and USB cable.

, which introduced new lighting technology for the movie Titanic—inserting halogen lighting elements in helium-filled balloons—announced the Solarc 500 Elliptic and Tube Indoor, for on-location and studio shooting. The Solarc 500 Elliptic, a 14x20-foot balloon inflated with helium, is capable of illuminating up to 129,000 square feet, making it particularly suitable for outdoor shooting. It can function, attached to a tether, as high as 150 feet above the ground. The Tube Indoor is specially shaped for indoor filming. Attached to a tether it can go as high as 33 feet. Components are easily detachable; ballasts are interchangeable with other makes and are flicker-free.
