The Best of 2000...And The Winners Are...




Noritsu 2711

Noritsu, in conjunction with Kodak, have joined forces to create the QSS-2711 DLS. The QSS-2711 DLS generates digital prints from 135, APS and digital files. High-resolution enlargements up to 12" x 18" can be produced, and creating templates for cards, calendars and other custom prints has never been easier. Consumers can receive their images on CD or via the Internet too. The QSS-2711 DLS also features the "scan once" capability, allowing you to scan a complete film roll in a single pass. A work-in-progress feature prioritizes digital media output to meet deadlines without interrupting workflow. Another feature now available on the QSS-2711 DLS is Kodak's Auto Dust and Scratch Removal software featuring Digital ICE technology.

Fuji Frontier 370

The Honorable Mention in this category, is once again Fuji. This year it's the Fuji Frontier 370, a high capacity digital minilab with the quality, speed and range needed on-site by retailers.


Tiffen Filters

Tiffen Filters have always given images an added touch of beauty and this year that line of filters has received PTN's Top Products honor in the Accessories category.

Honorable Mention — Accessories
Photoco (Carson) Lens Pen

For 5 of the past 6 years, this unique lens cleaning system has taken the Accessory category, placing 2nd this year and in 1997. No other accessory has won twice. We've called LensPen the accessory that just won't go away and it's clear, no recounts necessary here.

Popular with retailers and photographers alike, a must have item for anyone that owns a camera.


Burnes of Boston

Burnes of Boston has once again shown the frames category is under its control. This year marks the sixth in a row Burnes has won. From chic to contemporary, fun to functional, Burnes consistently outsell the rest. New for 2001, the Providence Metals collection is sure to be a winner too.

Honorable Mention — Frames
Malden

Malden received Honorable Mention for their Photo frames by PTN's readership this year. Malden produces high quality wood frames, utilizing the finest furniture factories to achieve high quality and consistency. Malden constantly creates new wood finishes, mixing and matching them together to achieve the best designs for their customers.

Winner — Camera Bag
Lowe Pro

On wheels, carried by handles, straps, or backpack, Lowe Pro's got this category in the bag. Lowe Pro's come out ahead of the pack this year, after finishing a close second last year. The Stealth series includes the Reporter shoulder bags for digital pro SLRs, lenses and accessories and the Stealth AW Backpack features room for a laptop computer to boot. These bags were designed for both black tie events and field work.

Honorable Mention — Camera Bag
Tamrac

Last year's winners have flip-flopped in the camera bag category once again. Tamrac has proven to be a solid seller with photo retailers with a second place this year. Tamrac's Digital Series provides the ultimate in protection for digital cameras and camcorders. From the battery sorting and storage elastic loops to fitted pockets for floppies and memory cards housed inside foam padded, waterproof Ballistic nylon — Tamrac offers a wide array of bags that photographers have to choose from — and which retailers voted for, among them, the 709 and 515.


Canon Elph

Canon's Elph has won in the Advanced Photo System category this year by an overwhelming number of PTN reader votes, marking the fourth year in the top spot — or every year we've had the category. No one else came close, except for the Elph 2, Elph Sport, Elph 370Z and Elph 260.


Canon Rebel 2000

Canon's Rebel 2000 has done it again — winning the amateur 35mm SLR category as well as the Honorable Mention for Top Overall product of the year. Canon's EOS line first debuted in 1987 and has only grown stronger through the 90's and into the new millennium.

Honorable Mention — 35mm SLR Amateur
Nikon N80

Nikon cameras have held the position as Top Product for the Pro SLR category for the last few years, and now Nikon is gaining a foothold in the Amateur SLR arena as well. The N80 is as solid an amateur AF SLR camera as there is.


Mamiya 645 AF

Mamiya's medium format models have done it again. This year the 645 AF takes top honors. Our readership has declared Mamiya to be the best when it comes to medium format.

Honorable Mention — Medium Format
Pentax 645 N

Pentax medium format cameras have had their share of Top Product and Honorable Mention awards in the last few years and this year the 645 N has been chosen by PTN's readers to receive the Honorable Mention for this category. Dealers and photographers both agree that when it comes to medium format, Pentax is one of the best.
