Konica And Pixel Magic Forge Alliance
Konica Photo Imaging and Pixel Magic Imaging (Pixel) have announced their new strategic alliance at the 2001 PMA Fall Trade Show. Pixel Magic and Konica will be working together to promote Pixel's line of digital imaging systems, including the Photo Ditto as part of an integrated solution with Konica's line of digital minilabs, including the QD-21 Super digital minilab system. The two organizations will work together in their sales and marketing efforts in order to promote this new alternative to retailers. As a result of the alliance, retailers in a wide range of marketing channels - including supermarkets, mass merchandisers, drug chains, camera specialty stores, card shops, copy shops and computer stores - will soon have access to a new suite of scalable, innovative imaging solutions, both analog and digital.

Minolta's DiMAGE 7 and Maxxum 7 have won the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) Awards for Best Digital Prosumer Camera and Best Photo SLR Camera for the year 2001-2002 respectively. The Maxxum 7 was also awarded the European Camera of the Year 2001-2002 from the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) and Camera Grand Prix by the Japan Camera Press Club.
The TIPA Award winners are chosen by a group of editors and technical editors representing 30 European photography and imaging magazines from 12 countries. The EISA awards are chosen by the Photo Panel of EISA, representing editors and technical editors from the leading photo journals in Europe. The Camera Grand Prix is sponsored by the Japan Camera Press Club, comprised of technical writers representing 13 photo and camera magazines.
ACDSee Available for Mac OS X
The ACDSee 1.6 for Mac image viewer and browser software is now available for the Macintosh OS X. New features in version 1.6 include compatibility with OS X, TWAIN image acquisition and ability to read metadata contained in Exif JPEG images. Eckerd Corp., just launched a photo quality assurance program in all Eckerd Express Photo Labs. The program states that no matter who develops the photos, if customers aren't satisfied with the results, they can bring in the prints and negatives they want corrected and Eckerd's Photo Experts will reprint them at no cost.
