Erin Manning and Canon Team Up

Canon U.S.A. recently aligned with DIY Network’s Erin Manning to help crafters take advantage of their technology products in decorating, creating gifts, scrapbooks, and more.

“Erin offers a wealth of ideas to assist people who love the convenience of digital photography to turn their pictures into artful prints,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior VP and GM, Canon U.S.A.’s Consumer Imaging Group.

Manning is a professional photographer and host of “The Whole Picture,” HGTV-HD’s and DIY Network’s Telly Award-winning digital photography show. “I am looking forward to working with Canon to share ideas and help people make the most of their digital images,” she said.

Consumers will be able to connect with Manning via Canon’s Scrapbook Microsite, which launches in the fall; “Ask Erin” will offer monthly insights on Canon’s eStore on using technology to maximize image use; and Canon will showcase Manning’s favorite crafting projects at the 2007 Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Conventions in Phoenix, AZ, and Seattle, WA.

Fujifilm Again Sponsors Great American Scrapbook Convention

Fujifilm U.S.A. extended its sponsorship of the Great American Scrapbook Convention for the second consecutive year. As the show’s platinum sponsor, Fujifilm participates at all three dates and locations in June and July.

As part of its sponsorship, Fujifilm will offer attendees kiosk demonstrations; workshops on digital photography, led by photo-fun specialist Adele Hendricks; free digital scrapbooking DVD kits to attendees of certain events; and a special show offer on Fujifilm cameras.

“We wish to underline the importance of preserving memories through photos, and that’s why we’re supporting scrapbooking enthusiasts through the Great American Scrapbook Conventions,” said Joellyn Gray, marketing director, Photo Imaging Group and Strategic Analysis, Fujifilm U.S.A. “Fujifilm is proud to support this dynamic community.”

Noritsu Minilabs Allow Retailers to Offer Popular “Locker Prints”

Noritsu minilabs can offer “locker prints” by using a 36-inch advance feature in certain of its models. Here, Ashley Smith, polkadotpotato.com, a Richardson, TX, digital scrapbook retailer, shows a 12x36 print and 8x36 print (from systems with a maximum 8-inch width capacity).

The Noritsu QSS-32, QSS-34, QSS-35 and QSS-35 Plus model minilabs, and the DP-100 printer can output these locker prints.

Noritsu claims a growing popularity of these sizes for either hanging a photo inside a school locker and for printing banners.
