Olympus introduced the Camedia E-20N 5 Megapixel E-Series camera. The E-20N features a myriad of new technologies intended to take full advantage of the E-20N's higher resolution CCD. The camera features a 9mm — 36mm zoom; file sizes up to 15MB; a manual focusing ring on the lens barrel; manual zoom ring; traditional-style focusing screen; and dual media card slots for SmartMedia and CompactFlash Type I and II memory cards, including the IBM Microdrive. A hot-shoe and PC flash connectivity allow for unlimited flash possibilities. The Camedia E-20N will ship with a 32MB Olympus SmartMedia memory card.
Phoenix Filters for Digicams
Phoenix Corporation of America has announced the introduction of Digital UV Filters with hoods to fit most of the digital cameras and lenses on the market. The filters are available in 28mm, 37mm, and 49mm as well as a 52mm filter that comes with an adapter tube for Sony cameras.

The new Dazzle Digital Media Reader, from SCM Microsystems, Inc., features Dazzle's OnDVD software utility, enables consumers to quickly and easily transfer photos from a digital camera to a PC, create a photo slideshow and then burn it on a CD for playback on a DVD player.
Dazzle Digital Media Readers are available for all types of media including CompactFlash Type I and II, IBM Microdrive, SmartMedia, SD Card, MultiMediaCard and Sony Memory Stick.
Dazzle OnDVD creates an archive of the original, high resolution digital photos on a CD-R that can be read back from a PC's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. These original photos act as virtual negatives and can be printed and reprinted again and again.

Toshiba launched its new TDP-T3, a super-bright digital projector featuring an optional snap-on expansion module that converts it from a lightweight portable unit with the advanced connectivity needed to create multimedia presentations using DVD players, HDTV, camcorders and gaming consoles. For greater versatility, it offers front/rear and ceiling/desktop projection methods. The TDP-T3 boasts an intuitive design, multiple inputs for computer, video and audio, along with an array of user-friendly features.

Rayovac Corp., introduced what it claims to be the market's first 1-hour nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery charger and longer-lasting NiMH batteries, designed for use with digital cameras. The charger can handle four AA or AAA NiMH batteries at a time, and an accessory kit includes a DC adaptor that plugs into a vehicle's cigarette lighter. The unit can also charge 9V NiMH and nickel cadmium (NiCd) batteries. Rayovac said its new NiMH batteries can be charged up to 1,000 times.

Hakuba has rolled out a second style of the Digital Media Storage Case in new vibrant colors and sizes. The exterior of the case is light blue, the interior features colorful rubber compartments that can be easily pulled out to allow for storage of a PCMCIA adaptor card. The large case includes a rubber insert for PCMCIA adaptor card storage. The interior compartments are individually color coded and sized for SmartMedia (green), Memory Stick (red) or CompactFlash (yellow) and Secure Digital Media (purple).
Ulead Releases PhotoImpact 7
Ulead has released PhotoImpact 7, image editing software that addresses digital photography, image design and Web graphics. PhotoImpact 7 also includes a number of time-saving tools and adjustments to the user interface. PhotoImpact 7 can be used with Windows XP.

Pentax's Optio 430 digital camera features a 4.0 Megapixel CCD and optical 3x zoom lens. The camera offers an array of shooting modes including manual focus. The Optio 430 features an LCD display which also offers the ability to check exposures with a histogram. The Optio 430 is compact and lightweight, and features an optical viewfinder and diopter adjustment. The Optio 430 is CompactFlash compatible and ships with a 16MB Lexar Media CF card.

Visioneer Inc., unveiled the Visioneer OneTouch 8920 USB color flatbed scanner, the company's first consumer scanner designed for photo enthusiasts. The OneTouch 8920 features an optical resolution of 1200x4800 dpi, 48-bit color and comes with a 35mm transparency adapter. Software bundled with the scanner includes ScanSoft's PaperPort Deluxe 7.0, TextBridge Pro 9.0 and Adobe Photoshop Elements. Visioneer said the OneTouch 8920 USB can scan a 4x6-inch photograph in less than 11 seconds at 300 dpi color.

Epson America Inc.'s, new Stylus Photo 785EPX inkjet printer was developed for digital camera owners. It features a built-in PC card slot that can accept media from most digital cameras by using an adapter. The printer comes with a CF Type I adapter that can be exchanged through Epson for either a Memory Stick or SmartMedia adapter.
Epson also offers an optional 1.6-inch color preview monitor that enables users to review and select images for printing. The printer can produce a 4x6-inch photo in under a minute and an 8x10-inch print in less than two minutes.

Now you can get all the camera/flash TTL functions including flash TTL compensation through a conventional "wired" connection by connecting a QF25 TTL adapter between the Mamiya 645AFD and a Qflash (any model). Or, go for "wireless" control using a FreeWire Digital Transceiver (FW10) and FW65 TTL adapter connected to the Mamiya. Then, connect any number of remote FreeWire/Qflash units for single or multi-flash coordinated wireless TTL.
