Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc., announced nationwide shipments of the new FinePix 4800 Zoom. The FinePix 4800 Zoom has a 2.4 million-sensor Super CCD, that generates a 4.3-Megapixel file. Offering a wide range of useful features, including its own cradle for quick and easy picture-viewing and download, and connection for videoconferencing and recharging of the camera's lithium ion battery. Other features of the 4800 include macro capability, five programmed exposure modes and three metering modes. A pop-up flash provides five modes: automatic, red-eye reduction, flash-on-demand, flash cancel and slow sync. The FinePix 4800 Zoom utilizes SmartMedia and is bundled with a 16 MB card. SimpleTech Introduces PhotoStor
SimpleTech Inc., introduced its PhotoStor Digital Photo Album, which combines a mix of products to make it easy for users to capture, edit, store and share thousands of digital images. PhotoStor utilizes SimpleTech's 32MB Compact Flash card, FlashLink card reader and MGI PhotoSuite III SE software for image editing. Edited images as seen on the PC may be sent to SimpleTech's 4GB DrivePak, an external portable USB drive that stores and organizes thousands of images in a digital album format. The DrivePak storage unit allows for easy transfer of the edited digital images to and from USB-enabled computers, and avoids taxing the internal storage space of the user's PC.

Epson America Inc. has introduced a new line of Perfection flatbed scanners. The flagship model, 2450 Photo scanner offers 2400 x 4800 dpi resolution, USB 2.0 and IEEE-1394 (FireWire) connectivity. The scanner offers photographic image quality with 3.4 Dmax and 48-bit color-depth and is conveniently equipped with a built-in 4" x 9" transparency adapter for scanning slides, transparencies and negatives.
The Epson Perfection 2450 scanner software bundle includes LaserSoft SilverFast SE, Adobe PhotoShop Elements, Epson Smart Panel, and Epson Twain Scanning Software; and is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh systems.

Toshiba Offers New 4.2-Megapixel Camera
Toshiba Imaging Systems is introducing a new 4.2-Megapixel digital camera. The PDR-M81 can capture 2400x1600 dpi images with a 35mm-equivalent lens (35-98mm) and 6X zoom. The all-glass Canon lens offers a Macro mode as well. The camera also features auto white balance, auto exposure control, auto-focusing system, and auto-sensing technology that adjusts flash output to lighting conditions. The AVI movie mode allows up to three minutes of video shooting.
The PDR-M81 comes with an 8MB SmartMedia card, soft carrying case, cables and other accessories including a USB driver and Sierra Imaging's ImageExpert software.

New from Canon is the G2 digital camera with a 4.13 MP CCD and 7-21mm zoom. The G2 offers a close focusing distance of 2.3 feet; 2.4 inches when the macro mode is engaged. Images can be recorded in Canon's proprietary Raw format or one of three Jpeg settings. The G2 offers four color effects settings for added creativity: Vivid color, Neutral color, Sepia, and Black & White. Minolta introduces the new 4x zoom 3.34 Megapixel DiMAGE S304, an autofocus digital camera combining quality with easy operation. The zoom range is equivalent to 35mm -140mm in 35mm and with digital zoom, the range is equivalent to 35mm - 280mm. Innovative autofocus technology includes both a wide focus area and a focus area selection, allowing photographers to move the focusing point on the LCD monitor. The DiMAGE S304 offers both automatic and manual image control options, including the Digital Effects Control where users can adjust the color saturation, contrast and exposure before saving the image to the Type I CompactFlash Card.
