Changes Coincide With Thrust Into Food, Drug & Mass Channels
by Jerry Lansky
A number of personnel moves by Agfa will add some emphasis to
its interest in the mass merchant segment as well as consolidate
its sales order and credit functions, presently based in Toronto,
into a new department to be headquartered in Minneapolis.
Prior to joining Agfa, Baillargeon held executive positions with
Kmart, Fuji and Polaroid. Baillargeon has also been a contributing
writer to PTN.
Dan Kinsley will take on the job of VP of sales and marketing for
Agfa's independent retail sales group. Kinsley most recently served
as Agfa's Eastern regional sales manager-independent retail. He has
been with Agfa since 1986 and has held a series of posts in both
the sales and technical areas. In addition to continuing to cover
his previous territory, Kinsley will have reporting to him the
western regional manager, Rick Maurer.
The Toronto office for Agfa consumer imaging is being scaled back
considerably.
Doug Goss, VP sales and marketing, who maintained his office in the
Toronto facility, has been given his notice from Agfa, effective
Dec. 31. His responsibilities will be split between Dan Kinsley,
Frank Baillargeon and Bing Liem, Agfa president.
Also let go from the Toronto office effective Dec. 31, will be
Sharon Sheridan, who managed Agfa's seven distributors as well as
its relationships to buying groups in North America. She is an
18-year Agfa veteran. According to Bing Liem, there will be a
replacement named later who will report to Dan Kinsley.
Liem said that the sales order and credit functions for North
America, operating in Toronto, will be relocated to Minneapolis on
about Feb. 1 in a new department called the Customer Care Center.
He indicated that the new group will be staffed by people with the
skill sets to handle not only order taking, but all matters
involving customer relations. With that in mind, he indicated that
technical and service operations, including training, will
headquarter within this new department rather than Ridgefield Park,
NJ headquarters.
Peter Lebovitz, senior marketing manager for processing
consumables, paper and chemistry, has also been given notice from
the firm. He had been with Agfa for about 15 years.
